Film Director

Federico Emilio Cornacchia is a film director born in Altamura, Puglia. After spending five years in London and earning a degree in Film Directing from the prestigious University for the Creative Arts, he now resides in Puglia.

He began his journey in the world of imagery through photography before fully immersing himself in cinema. His style blends various influences and visual languages, fostering the creation of multicultural teams that enrich every project. A passionate meditator, he seeks harmony on set and views filmmaking as a form of therapy: each film becomes a cathartic process for both the audience and the team.

As a keen observer of reality, Federico is deeply interested in human nature and the invisible forces that shape our lives. His cinema, which he describes as magical-realistic, addresses contemporary social issues with a perspective that embraces mystery, exploring connections between the everyday and the things that elude our understanding.

He has directed and worked on a wide range of films, participating in international festivals. His notable works include ECLISSI DI TERRA (2024) – Winner of the Rai Cinema Channel Award at the 25th European Film Festival, TART (2022) – Winner of the Unisalento Award at the 24th European Film Festival, Best Short Film at the New Wave Short Film Festival, Best Student Film at Lift-Off Global Network (Jury Award), and Best Editing at the New York Tri-State Film Festival, ANGELS ENVY (2023) – winner of Best Editing and nominated for Best Film and Best Cinematography at the 48H Film Project Rome, and FROG AND MOUSE (2022) – Special Mention at AIMAFF 2024 and selected at the Matera Film Festival IV in the Focus Italia category.

His cinema is appreciated for the stories and archetypes explored, as well as its carefully crafted visual aesthetic through innovative techniques and deep actor direction. For him, creating means deconstructing conventional ideas of reality, leaving space for imagination and new narrative possibilities.
